Don Medley reported:
-the fact that the raffle tickets for support of the
International 2008 Rose Float were similar to the California
Lottery in that there is one great prize but a great many
tickets sold. Stan Bowers has said that there is a prize
planned that will be competed for by Club contributions. We
need to wait to see what that will be but if any member
wishes to partake in the International effort he has
tickets.
-Lt Gov Wesner sent an email concerning Annual Club Giving.
Camarillo has given. There are five Clubs that have not
given this year and three others that have not given in the
past two years.
-We can have three votes at the meeting in San Antonio. We
only have one member going to the conference (Bill Adams).
Roy Talley has sent an email saying he is willing to serve
as a delegate for any Club that needs him. We will contact
him. We will also contact the Lt Gov for another person who
can act as our delegate.
-East Ventura Club had a speaker on March 4, 2007 from
“Stand Up For Kids). This is a National Non Profit Volunteer
Outreach Organization and deserves our support.
-We received an appeal for a contribution for “The Smile
Train” a Charity for Cleft operations for children. We
should consider this for next years budget.
-We have received a notice that Cal-Nev-Ha has a PTP
Matching Fund for Dunlap Awards. Bob Gaboury will follow up
and try to get our name on the list.
-He has sent a thank you letter to six of the special guests
giving them information on Club membership.
Unfinished Business:
-Joe Dilibert reported that our application for a 501c3 has
been denied but we are supposed to get a refund of the fee
we submitted. It was denied because we are a service
organization and 501c3 is for education, charity, etc
groups. He is working with Doug Hill on this and they are in
contact with Paul Sherman (T.O) who has been successful in
his application.
-5k - 10k race activities are moving forward. John Muller
and Allen Grizzard-Paul are working on setting up the
course. There was discussion about the possibility of
changing the course route and the types of prizes that are
awarded. Jim Graf is working on the necessary insurance
forms for the activity. Don Medley is to contact Jim about
this. It was determined that the first regular meeting of
June will be devoted to race planning. Also, it was
recommended that a committee should be named right after the
May 5, 2007 race to begin planning the 2008 race.
-Bill Adams is completing his registration for International
Conference. He is our official delegate and we hope to find
two others to act on our behalf. One possibility is Roy
Talley.
New Business:
-There is a DCM on April 12, 2007. Darryl Sobelman suggested
that Cecilia Rexford has heavy responsibilities with
Sponsored Youth Programs, and that Interclub/DCM
arrangements should be delegated to other members who do not
currently have a direct responsibility.
-The May 10,2007 DCM will be held at the CAF Hanger at
Camarillo Airport. The menu will be Hot Dogs, Sauerkraut,
Chile, Cheese, Condiments, Chips, Sodas and water. There is
a voluntary $3.00 contribution to the CAF requested of
attendees. Those who are interested in helping should be
there at 5:30pm to help setup. We should encourage all
members to attend.
-There was discussions about ways to help the new Camarillo
Library.
-Cecilia Rexford commented on the Skip-a -Meal notice on
page 13 of the April issue of the Kiwanis Magazine. The Club
should support this program.
-Don Medley displayed the tablecloths dollies and jewel box
that will be given in the raffle to raise funds for
supporting Club activities. He has tickets and everyone
should take and sell them at $5.00 each. The prizes and
tickets will be taken to all DCM’s, and several inter-clubs.
The winners will be drawn at the July 12, 2007 Division
Meeting at Carpentaria Valley, SB.
Adjourned: 8:27 pm.
