KIWANIS CLUB OF CAMARILLO

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

 
FEB. 13, 2007

CALL TO ORDER: By Pres. Walt Metcalf at 7:12 p.m. at his home

PRESENT: Bd. Members- Marge Leszczynski, Carole Warren, Linda
Thayer-Gaboury, Allen Grizzard-Paul, Paige Hibbits, Bill Adams, Bob Gaboury, Walt Metcalf  plus  Joe Dilibert -(Acting Sect’y)

MINUTES : Previous minutes as published- Linda moved to accept, Paige
seconded- approved.

TREASURER: Bob Gaboury passed out monthly report- Admin $3367.29,   Service - $16,968.76
IRS reported they had received our request (+$750 fee) for
501-C3 Status)

CORRESPONDENCE: Joe read “Thank You” from Pat Muntz of Alma Via for having her as speaker.

OLD BUSINESS:

1) $500 is in the budget for re-supplying needed infant car seats. Joe will contact Fire Dept. to see what is needed and arrange the purchase with EvenFlo.

2) Special Guest Day-  March 27 was set as date. Rd. Table will be used. Evening will be reserved if crowd warrants. 2-3 names and addresses of potential new members will be requested of membership to be given to Walt or Joe by Mar. 6.  Letters will then be sent out (with RSVP) inviting them to attend on March 27. Sponsors will be required to follow up with a phone call. Walt will see about a dynamic speaker.

3) K-International Convention: July 4-8- San Antonio, Texas. Bill
Adams & Don Medley are possible attendees.  Partial expenses will be provided by the club subject to available funds.

4) New Library- Moving date is set for late Feb.  Will need help.

NEW BUSINESS:

1) New Members - Elaine Thomas - sponsored by Doug Hill
Harriet Colbo- sponsored by Herman Eichenhofer - both approved.

2) Transfer - Jerry Goldsmith indicated he was moving to West Hills.
Will req. a transfer.

3) Community Needs Assessment: Was suggested we conduct one very soon but while getting ads for 10K ask what the merchants feel the community needs. Other areas of interest might be: Casa Pacifica, Parks &Rec, Ch. of Commerce, Handicapped sports groups, etc.

4) Club Pamphlets;  Walt passed out draft of a 3-fold color pamphlet for recommendations.

5) Purchases:  Bob asked that all purchases go through Sect’y first and then to Treas who will actually purchase the items.
     
6) Farm Workers Relief  “House to Farm Workers” .Bill moved that we donate $500 . Linda  seconded it. Much discussion followed. End result- Bill will specify to the organization that we want $500 to go to a family or 2 who lives in Camarillo/Somis area.   Approved.
