DIRECTOR’S MEETING

CALL TO
ORDER: President Walt Metcalf called to meeting to order at
7:12 p.m. Location: Metcalf home.
PRESENT : Walt Matcalf, Don Medley, Bob Gaboury,
Linda Thayer-Gaboury, Cecilia Rexford, Carole Warren,
Darryl Sobelman, Sandra Burkhart, Paige Hibbits, Bill Adams,
Allen Grizzard-Paul, Marge Leszczynski Marge.
Guest - Joe Dilibert, Lt Governor Michael Wesner.
Cecilia Rexford moved that the minutes from February,
available on the website, be approved, Marge Leszczynski
seconded - passed.
TREASURERS REPORT:
Administrative account; Income $1331.00, Expenses $861.98
Ending Balance; $3921.31.
Service account: Income $998.00 Expenses $446.57
Ending balance; $17505.19
Bob Gaboury reported that the Fine & Travel fund contains
$1,204.00.
Bob Gaboury reported that Diana Reed and Tania Mandernacht
dues are several months in arrears. The Secretary was
instructed to write each of them a letter concerning this
and how it may affect their membership status.
UPDATE ::
FULL PAYMENT RECEIVED FROM BOTH PARTIES ~ NOTICES CANCELLED
It was reported
that the printer of the 5k-10k race program book has changed
ownership and it will cost $1.56 per book for the printing.
Allen Grizzard-Paul moved to allocate $1200 toward support
of an attendee at the annual conference in San Antonio, TX.
Linda Thayer-Gaboury seconded - passed. Bill Adams is the
probable member to attend.
The new Camarillo library, after saying they would not need
help has asked for help in preparing for their move. They
will need help on Tuesday through Friday , 3/13/07 through
3/26/07. Bill Adams is to coordinate this effort.
A revised Club brochure was presented by Paige and Walt. It
will cost $1.18 each to print the two sided tri- fold
brochure. Allen Grizzard-Paul moved that the Club have a
fund raiser to pay for the brochures. Darryl Sobelman
seconded - Passed. Allen moved that we buy 500 brochures
paying for them from Club funds to be replaced with the
proceeds from the fund raiser. Darryl Sobelman seconded -
Passed. There was brief discussion about fund possible
raising activities. Don Medley offered a hand made
crocheted table cloth to be auctioned as a fund raiser.
Several names have been received for special guest day.
Joe Dilibert will write a letter to each of the submitted
persons. The person submitting the name should call the
invitee as a follow-up.
Walt Metcalf
reminded the Board of the proposed contribution to the CAF.
He reported that the CAF needs bookcases. He will check on
the type of bookcase needed and some probable sources for
acquiring them and report back at the next meeting.
“Total K Day” was introduced and discussed. Several
projects were put forward. Marge Leszczynski will check on
possible help at the Camarillo Ranch House.
Paige Hibbits will check on help at the museum, and Walt
Metcalf on projects to help the CAF.
The help for the museum seems the most likely.
There was a discussion about the International Kiwanis
change in use of the name rather than the emblem on badges.
This was tabled pending discussions with the membership.
Allen and Mary Grizzard-Paul attended a kickoff meeting for
the Camarillo Christmas Parade. Kiwanis is still being
asked to provide the shuttle to move dignitaries from the
parking lot to the parade start point. There is a proposed
expansion of the parking to include the City Hall lot and
Kiwanis will be asked to add that site to their shuttle
activities. Allen moved to add this to our activities,
Darryl Sobelman seconded - passed.
Bill Adams was asked if there was any news about the farmers
relief proposal. He has not heard , item was tabled.
Darryl Sobelman reported that there would be a
representative of the Cub Scouts attending a regular meeting
to formalize the Club sponsorship of their pack.
There is a fund raising proposal by Brendan Hendricks to
raise monies for St. Baldric's Foundation. He will cut and
donate his very long hair for this purpose.
Moved by Bob Gaboury, second by Cecilia Rexford that the
Club donate $200 to this project - passed.
Visiting Lt. Governor Wesner announced the Governor’s visit
on March 18, 2007 from 1 - 3 pm at the ARC Center, 2700
Buckaroo Drive in Oxnard. Each club is asked to bring a
bottle of good red wine as a gift for the Govenor.
