BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
MARCH 3, 2008

CALL TO ORDER - By Pres. Bill Adams at 5:04 p.m. at his home

PRESENT:  Bill Adams, Paige Hibbits, Walt Metcalf, Cecilia Rexford,
Darryl Sobelman, Linda Thayer-Gaboury, Bob Gaboury, Anne Zachry, Allen Grizzard-Paul, Joe Dilibert (Acting Secretary) and Richard Hai and Alex Hong from the KIWINS

MINUTES: Cecilia moved, Walt seconded - approved as printed on website
and emailed.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Bob Gaboury passed out the report.  Administrative Account had $6, 368.36  The Service Account had $18,789.93 - FINE & Travel. had $955 + $475 just received for manning  polling station. Filed as submitted.

OLD BUSINESS:  Paige and Walt are our voting delegates at the March 15
election for Division trustee - Irish John Gore.

NEW BUSINESS:
1) Richard Hai and Alex Hong reported that the KIWIN Convention is             scheduled for Apr. 11-13 in San Ramon, CA.  39 students have paid            registration fees  of $137 ea. plus hotel room of $69.54 and rented a bus      for $65.  They need to have 3 chaperones (2 teachers and Cecilia have        agreed to go) $250 for each of the chaperones.  They asked for financial      help primarily to pay for the 3 chaperones.
        Paige questioned the need for 39 to go to a convention. Were we just
subsidizing a “ fun “ weekend or were the youth really going to profit.??
        Cecilia indicated that we have generally paid 1/3 of the costs for
conventions. Linda presented the fact that we have never had 39 go to a convention and the 1/3 was a general “rule of thumb” suggestion not a hard fast requirement.  Allen said the conventions he has attended with the youth groups have been very tightly controlled and offer excellent training.
        Bobby indicated that our budget listed $9000 for youth If we could
raise the money and so far we have not.
Darryl- Moved we give KIWINS $1000 to help cover the expenses.
Bobby seconded it and it was passed - Paige Hibbits Dissented.

2) Las Colinas Builders. Club - Food Drive scheduled for Mar. 3-20 for
“Pantry” Linda urged members to bring non-perishable items to add to it.
       
3) Club elections are scheduled for May - Committee to be named to get
candidates Pres-Elect. & Treasurer.  Don Medley would like to have a
co-Secretary for a year

Special Board Meeting 3-11-2008  

Call to Order_1:34 pm.

Attending:  Bill Adams; Walt Metcalf; Don Medley; Bob Gaboury; Cecilia Rexford; Anne Zachry; Marge Leszczynski. 

Walter Metcalf moved , Anne Zachry seconded to accept Erin Roberts and Nellie Valentine as new members.  Passed.

Cecilia Rexford asked that the period for submission of scholarship applications be extended.  Don Medley stated that the applications need to be submitted two weeks prior to the school presentation programs.  After discussion, Cecilia Rexford will communicate with the high school faculty in charge of this activity.
